Delma “Jeanne” Marie Lord born September 29, 1933 passed away July 14, 2018 at age 84 surrounded by family at Franciscan Hospice house in University
Place, Washington.
Born in Indianola, Iowa to Edyth K. and Domonic C. Comito. She had a wonderful childhood with lots of relatives near to enjoy summer and holiday fun. Her family also lived in Clarinda, and Boone, Iowa. Jeanne is proceeded in death by her mother and father Edyth and Domonic Comito, brother Joesph Comito and two of her daughters Kimberly A. Sweet and Catherine J. Louden. Jeanne is survived by her brother George W. Comito married to Janie and their two sons David and Daniel. She is also survived by her daughter Stephanie
M. Johnson along with five granddaughters and nine great grandchildren. Jeanne moved to Seattle, WA with her parents after graduating high school in Boone, Iowa in 1951.
In 1953 she married William Louden and had three daughters, with much sadness their marriage dissolved in divorce. In 1977 she married Frank Lord and moved to Marysville, WA.
She worked 25 years for the Washington State Liquor Control Board.
Jeanne was a devout Catholic; she was fortunate to work in the RCIA ministry for eight years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marysville. She would eventually retire to the Long Beach Peninsula, where she owned and operated “Festivals,” a coffee house. She loved every minute of it especially the baristas who worked there and all the great friends she made.
Her health gave way and she sold the building and moved to Astoria, OR to be close to her daughter Cathy.
Jeanne was very independent and lived an active life, volunteering in the hospital auxiliary at CMH and KMUN radio station. She also loved to travel and had recently taken a pilgrimage to Italy. In her last year Jeanne moved to Gig Harbor, WA to be near her daughter Stephanie and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank and recognize the care given to Jeanne in her final months by Franciscan Hospice.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marysville, WA. with a reception to follow on July 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. A celebration of life will be held in Astoria, OR at 3 cup coffee and roaster on September 29, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.
