Robert Thomas Shank was born in Seattle, Wash. on July 3, 1921. He was the son of Thomas and Stella Shank.
Bob attended schools in Seattle and graduated from Ballard High in 1939. He also attended Edison Vocational where he took a course in welding. He worked at Boeing for four years until he was drafted in the Army during World War II for three years. He went back to Boeing until 1947 when he joined the Seattle Fire Department and spent 25 years, retiring in 1972 with the rank of Captain. He and his wife, Kay, moved to Camano Island, Wash. where they built their present home.
He has spent many happy times camping and fishing with his family. He and Kay made several trips to Europe and loved cruising as well as trips in their trailer. He was a gentleman and had a good sense of humor, especially English humor. He has spent the last 15 years as a volunteer at Josephine Home helping the residents on their outings.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kay; sons: Al (Susan), Kenneth, and Don (Debra); and our good friend, Jim. He has three grandsons, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson. Bob will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
