MARYSVILLE – Trinity Baron-Soss and Xanth Moen are the January Girl and Boy of the Month as selected by the Marysville Soroptimist and Kiwanis clubs.
Both are seniors at Legacy High School.
Baron-Soss volunteers at the MAJAR Animal Rescue for her aunt and uncle. They rescue cats, tame and vaccinate them, then find them homes.
“It’s a passion, not a career,” she said.
For a job, she wants to go into cosmetology and have her own beauty salon, specializing in doing wedding hairstyles. She is taking cosmetology at Sno-Isle Technical Institute and plans to get a degree in it from Everett Community College.
Baron-Soss also has volunteered for MDOG, preparing doggie bags for Poochapalooza. And she house sits animals when their owners are away.
For hobbies, Baron-Soss likes to use her creative mind for art, such as drawing, wood burning and photography. She also enjoys cooking and baking.
As to why she chose Legacy, Baron-Soss said big schools can intimidate her, and she likes a different learning style – more one on one.
Moen’s community service mostly involves computers. He is part of the school’s class that fixes computers for the public. He has taught people how to set them up. He has also created a budget and ran cash transactions at the student store. Moen also volunteered as a math tutor at nearby 10th Street School. And he manages fundraiser as executive treasurer for Sno-Isle.
He has taken electronic engineering at Sno-Isle and Advanced Placement Science Principles, including javascript. Moen decided to attend Legacy because of its emphasis on computers, which he came to love in middle school when he learned how to build a website. He hopes to get a job at Boeing after high school and have them put him through college to become an electronic engineer. If that doesn’t happen he has three colleges in mind to find a career that has anything to do with electricity.
Moen has three career skills certifications, won an outstanding junior award and won a community service award from the Marysville Rotary.
