MARYSVILLE – Chick-fil-A is on its way.

City planning director Jeff Thomas made that announcement at Monday’s City Council meeting.

He also said even though it may not look like it progress is being made “behind the scenes” at the hotel construction on 116th that has been stalled for a few years.

Thomas also said a two-story mini-storage facility is going up at 156th and Smokey Point Boulevard in the Cascade Industrial Center. And he said a spec development similar to one that houses Elemental Cider and other businesses near the Arlington Airport is being planned in the Marysville portion of the CIC.

Also at the meeting, Jay Tolbert was promoted to sergeant in the Marysville Police Department. After serving in the Navy, Tolbert worked for Monroe police before coming to the MPD, where he has served on patrol, the NITE team and most recently in the property crimes unit. Also at the meeting:

•$78,000 was OK’d for Strategies 360, which has provided general lobbying services for the city since 2007. However, the council plans to terminate the contract in August of 2021.

•The council approved a $125,000 grant from the state Department of Commerce to update its Downtown Master Plan.

•OK’s using .0073% of the state sales tax in Marysville to help with affordable housing. The approximate amount is $90,000 a year.

•OK’d $77,800 for right of way to widen State Avenue.

•Kristen Michal was named to the planning commission and Patricia Dairymple to the Civic Service Commission.
