ARLINGTON – Figuratively speaking, the “For Sale or Lease” sign is in the front lawn for the historic old Arlington High School.
Arlington Public Schools officials announced Wednesday that they are inviting interested parties to submit a Letter of Interest to buy or lease all or a portion of the district’s old three-story high school property at 135 S. French Ave.
Individuals also need to include plans for preserving, retaining and improving the current structure.
The old high school possesses a historical presence. The 82,044-square-foot building features classrooms, a cafeteria, a commons space, a large performing auditorium with balcony seating, original iron and glass skylights, and Art Deco architecture.
Property improvements were built in 1936, remodeled in 1979 and used by the high school until 2003. The first floor of the building currently houses the district’s Support Services. The district also leases about 25% of the first floor to Kids Kloset, a nonprofit organization.
