MARYSVILLE — After more than a year of preparation, Marysville has an auto licensing office of its own.
Cari L. Crook, owner of CLC Auto Licensing on State Avenue, has 15 years of experience in auto licensing, having worked at an Everett licensing office since 1994, the past seven years of which she served as office manager. Her qualifications earned her the support of both county and state licensing officials, but she still had to go through an application and approval process that began in March of 2008.
Crook and 18 other applicants were considered by the Snohomish County Licensing Division, which recommended Crook to the Washington State Department of Licensing, but forwarded all the applications to the state DOL. The county recommended Crook in September, and the state approved that recommendation in December. Crook then sought out an office space, and paid for a specially built counter to fit that space once she’d signed the lease in March of this year, one year after she began the process. She then had to wait for the state to approve her computers, which happened two days before she opened her office for business on May 13.
“We’ve had all of our official signs up since March, so I had to make handmade signs that said we weren’t open for business yet,” Crook said. “We’ve had quite a few people come in already.”
CLC Auto Licensing is open now, though, Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 9611-F State Ave. While it doesn’t deal with drivers licenses, it does handle vehicle and vessel licenses, registrations, tabs and titles, as well as truck tonnage and notary services.
“After two years without one, the folks in Marysville finally have an office to get their licensing work done,” Crook said. “Now you don’t have to drive to Smokey Point or Everett. I can’t wait to get busy. Let us help you out.”
