Boys wrestling
Five wrestlers won weight championships at the 3A District 1 North Sub-Regionals at Snohomish Saturday.
For Marysville-Pilchuck, Austin Davis won at 120 pounds, Cayden White at 182 pounds and Justin Albee at 285 pounds.
For Marysville Getchell, Jesus Cabadas won at 145 pounds and Cheron Smith at 220 pounds.
M-P was fifth in the team standings with 200 points, and MG sixth with 180.5.
Also going to regionals are:
•For MG, Christopher Bonner was second at 160 pounds; Caleb Blonk third at 195 pounds and Erick Duenes third at 220 pounds; and Jacob Steele fourth at 113 pounds.
•For M-P, Mauro Bejar was second at 170 pounds; Ammar Humoud third at 145 pounds; and Iakov Bondar fourth at 132 pounds and Dylan Kaliston fourth at 220 pounds.
Girls wrestling
At the District 1-2 Subregional at Chief Sealth Saturday, freshman Alivia White of M-P won the title at 190 pounds to advance to regionals. Teammate Tony Hatch placed fourth at 235 pounds to also advance.
Dori Hofman of MG was the only Charger to advance, placing fourth at 170 pounds.
As a team, M-P placed sixth with 82 points and MG 22nd with 21.
Girls basketball
The Tommies fell to Everett 56-20 Thursday. Emily Hamre led M-P with 7.
ARLINGTON
Boys wrestling
The Eagles were seventh at the Subregionals at Snohomish with 159.5 points.
Dorian Tollenaar won the title at 113 pounds, but some of his teammates advanced by placing in the top four.
Trevor Latta was second at 138 pounds, with teammate Dimitri Shaffer fourth. Eric Vogel was third at 106 points, as was Casten Tollenaar at 120 pounds. Gabe Price was fourth at 145 pounds.
Girls wrestling
The Eagles placed second in the Subregional at Squalicum Saturday with 171 points. At 130 pounds, Tailer Cochran placed second to lead the Eagles. At 155 pounds, teammate Souzanna Crew was third.
Girls basketball
The Eagles beat Snohomish in a defensive battle Thursday 46-35. Arlington jumped out to an 11-5 first-period lead, but the home team pulled within two at halftime. The Eagles clinched the game pouring in 21 points in the third quarter, while holding Snohomish to 9. Kierra Marsh led the winners with 12, and Hailey Hiatt had 11 and Makenzie Gage 8.
Youth football
Braydin Hooper of Arlington traveled to San Diego last weekend to play in the All-American youth football bowl. Braydin stood out as the top running back with two clutch runs in the fourth quarter that sealed his team’s victory. Players were evaluated by college scouts and coaches, and the experience promotes the importance of school grades and positive attitudes toward teachers and parents.
LAKEWOOD
Girls wrestling
Torrie Blackwood placed first at 115 pounds to lead the Cougars to an 18th place finish in the Subregional at Squalicum Saturday with 53.5 points.
Boys basketball
Lakewood dropped its regular-season finale Thursday night, falling to powerhouse Lynden Christian 74-62.
The Cougars actually led at halftime 32-27, but the home team got its offense on track in the second half to pull out the win. Alex Jensen led Lakewood with 21 points. Jared Taylor added 15, Morgan Stacey 14 and Shae Dixon 10.
Girls basketball
Lakewood fell to Lynden Christian 61-16.
