ARLINGTON – Eagles Daniel Heiss and Levi Wiseman both were wrestling tournament champions at the Arlington Throw-Down Saturday.

At 106 pounds, Heiss won the title match with a pin in just 24 seconds. In his other matches, he won 14-4 and pinned his foe in 1 minute 10 seconds.

At 182 pounds, Wiseman came out on top, winning by pin in 21 seconds, then winning two decisions 13-8 and 8-6.

Arlington was second in the team competition with 190.5 points. Edmonds-Woodway won with 246.

Six other Eagles finished tied for third.

At 120 pounds, Dorian Tollenaar tied for third. He won his first match by pin, but was pinned in the second round. Coming up through the loser’s bracket, he won 9-4, pinned teammate Cole Phillips in 3:40, then won by pin in 2:12.

Phillips won his first match by fall in 4:45, was pinned, and in the consolation round won 5-3 over teammate David Forslof.

Forslof was pinned in his first match before losing to Phillips.

At 126 pounds, Todd Smith tied for third, winning his last match by injury default. He was pinned in his first match, but in the loser’s bracket he won by technical fall 16-1, before beating teammate Trevor Latta. Latta won by fall in a minute in his first match, pinned his second-round opponent in 5:47, but then lost by injury default his last two matchups.

At 145 pounds, Eddie Holland tied for third. He won by pins in 4:32 and 1:48 before losing 8-6. He won 6-4 in his last match.

JJ Nyasulu also wrestled at that weight class. He was pinned in both of his matches.

At 152 pounds, Gavin Howell tied for third. He won by a technical pin 18-3. After losing 9-4, he won by pin in 1:34.

Andrew Arrington also wrestled at that weight. He lost by technical fall then was pinned.

At 160 pounds, Adam Murray was pinned, but then won by pins in 2:28, 1:47 and 2:15 to tie for third.

Sean Lee was pinned in both of his matches.

At 170 pounds, Kristian Fairbanks tied for third winning by pins in 2:11 and 1:08 before losing 13-4. He then pinned teammate Rylan Polkinghorn in 3:22.

Polkinghorn pinned his foe in 34 seconds in the first round, before being pinned. He won by pins in 3:34 and 2:30 before losing to his teammate.

Monty Copenhaver also wrestled at that weight. He lost by pin both of his matches.

Besides Wiseman, two other Eagles wrestled at 182 pounds. Kayode Aribibola and Ocean Hufstetler both were pinned in each of their matches. At 132 pounds, Gunner Olson was pinned in his first-round matchup but then won by pin in 1:45 before being eliminated by pin.

At 138 pounds, Dimitri Shaffer won 9-0 before losing by technical fall 24-9. He then lost by injury default. Caleb Abenroth lost 14-7, then had a bye before being pinned.

At 195 pounds, Dawson Reed lost 9-7 and was pinned. At 285 pounds, Hunter Strande was pinned twice.

In Puyallup, Marysville-Pilchuck placed second to the host team with 182 points, to the Vikings 198.

The Tomahawks had four champions: at 113 pounds, Mikey Bejar; at 145 pounds, Isaiah Galindo; at 182, Cayden White and at 285, Jeff Roullier.

Teammate Lukas Ramos was second at 285.

Also finishing as the runner-up was Austin Davis at 132 pounds.

Placing fourth at 126 was Tanner Lauzon; at 152 Jonathon Goeden; at 160, Ahmad Humoud; and at 170, Mauro Bejar.

Boys basketball

MARYSVILLE – Marysville Getchell lost to Sehome at home Saturday 70-52.

Caleb Koellmer scored 17 points and Malakhi Knight 15 for the Chargers. Josiah Koellmer and Jesse Donk had 5 each, Lul William 4, and Dylan Rice and Matt Thomas 3 apiece.

MONROE – Anthony Whitis scored 32 points Friday to lead Arlington to a 62-54 win at Monroe.

The Eagles took a 18-13 lead in the first quarter, and the game was even from there.

Michael Tsoukalas added 12 points, Caden Smith and Will Abram 5 each, Josh Gutierrez 4, and Joseph Schmidt and Quintin Yon-Wagner 2 apiece.

MARYSVILLE – Raequan Battle was back on the court, scoring 21 points, but Marysville-Pilchuck still lost to Mercer Island Friday 54-50.

M-P took a 12-7 lead in the first quarter and was up at halftime 23-19. But the visitors evened it at 33-33 after three periods, before outscoring the Tommies 21-17 in the wild final stanza.

Normally high-scoring guards Cameron Stordahl and Luke Dobler were held to 2-point each.

Ethan Jackson had 10, Aaron Kalab 8, Brady Phelps 5 and Alec-Jones-Smith 2.

Girls basketball

EVERETT _ After not winning a game in two years, the Marysville-Pilchuck girls have won two in a row.

The Tommies outscored Cascade 39-28 Friday.

They outscored the Bruins 12-5 in the first quarter and 14-5 in the last.

Miriah Summers scored 20 points to lead the way. Other scorers were: Georgia Bradley 6, Lauren Lewis 5, Alex Grimm and Madyson Baxter 3 each, and MacKenzie Konsor 2.

ARLINGTON – The Eagles got off to a slow start and couldn’t catch up, losing to Jackson’s girls 56-47.

They trailed 15-8 after one and played even from there.

Sierra Scheppele led Arlington with 12 points, and Hailey Hiatt had 11. Josie Stupey had 9, Abby Schwark 5, Allison DeBerry 3, with 2 each were Mollie Janousek, Jordan Bartlow and Abbey Hassing, and Makenzie Gage scored 1.
